Access facilities at Time and Tide
Visitors with access requirements may bring a companion into Time and Tide Museum free of charge.
Access packs
Access packs containing the picture board guide, companion notes and raised profile images for selected art works, a self-guided accessible highlights tour, a spotlight torch, ear defenders and a magnifying sheet are available on request from the reception desk.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome in Time and Time Museum.
Parking
There is on-street parking in the surrounding area and designated parking spaces for Blue Badge holders opposite the museum in Blackfriars Road pay and display car park (standard charges apply). View more information about Blackfriars Road car park.

Hearing loop
There is a hearing loop in the education room for use during events or talks.
Buggy/wheelchair park
There is space behind the main reception to store wheelchairs or buggies (at owners' risk).
Wheelchair access
The museum has two manual wheelchairs and portable stools are available for your comfort in the museum galleries.
- Access to the Time and Tide reception area is over a stone sett courtyard. If you require a more smooth entrance to the museum please contact the reception desk on 01493 743930 and our staff will be pleased to offer assistance
- In the reception area there is a staff-operated stair lift down two steps
- Several of the original uneven floor surfaces are retained on the ground floor, however all areas in the museum, including the first floor galleries and smoke stack mezzanines, are fully accessible
- There are lifts to the first floor at each end of the building
Door opening
Doors leading onto the inner courtyard are closed during inclement weather. Reception staff will be happy to open either doors for you on request. All other doors are sensor operated.
Accessible toilet facilities
There is a unisex wheelchair accessible toilet behind the reception area and another behind the lift on the first floor, close to the education suite.
Cosy cabin
There is a small quiet area between the end of the play boat and the model ship display case. You can use this space to take time out during your visit.
Baby change
There is a spacious separate baby change room behind the reception area and a baby change table in the first floor toilet. There are baby seats in both the male and female toilets.
Light levels
For conservation purposes, light levels are kept low in certain galleries or displays. Hand held torches are available in the access pack.

Stairway Landing: Fat and smoke deposits from curing process embedded into walls and wooden framework; net infill on stair rails
Early Years: Tactile replica sample of mammoth hide; Tactile replica hand axe
Roman: Chain mail suit of armour and helmet which is oily to the touch; life-size cut-out of auxiliary soldier; replica sword and shield; Roman food aromas
Wreck and Rescue Gallery: Captain Manby life-size cut-out; film commentary about lifeboat rescues
Seaside Gallery: Seaside soundscape; film of historic Great Yarmouth (with headphones)
World War Gallery: Film commentary about WWII; large parachute flare casing and large anti-personnel bomb container; street lamp with evidence of shell damage; room setting featuring a Morrison shelter
Childhood Gallery: Film with headphones; 'memory phone' with audio commentary
